My newborn sessions are designed to be calm, cozy, and completely stress-free. I travel to you for an in-home newborn experience and bring everything needed from wraps and blankets to props and posing support so you can stay comfortable in your own space. The ideal time to schedule newborn photos is when baby is between 5–15 days fresh, when they’re still extra sleepy and curly. But don’t worry if that window has passed I’ve photographed newborns beautifully up to 6 weeks old, focusing on a heartfelt blend of lifestyle storytelling and gently posed newborn portraits. My goal is always the same: capture the love, the connection, and the details you’ll never want to forget.
Preparing for Your Newborn In-Home Session
How should we prepare our home?
One window with good natural light is really all I need, so please don’t worry about the house. I’ll help choose the best spot when I arrive and can move things around if needed.
I also love incorporating any heirlooms, plants, or textured blankets you may have as these personal touches help bring you into the photos and make your images even more meaningful.
What should we wear?
Neutrals are always best for newborn photos, especially if these images will be displayed on your walls. Cream, oatmeal, and soft greys photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on your baby while creating a calm, timeless look.
I recommend clean, natural nails and avoiding bright or bold nail polish. For siblings, please remove any temporary tattoos before the session so the images stay soft and classic.
And a quick note for dads 😉 please remember to empty your pockets (keys, wallet, phone). I promise I’ll catch it!
The Day Before Your Session
The day before your session, I’ll send a quick reminder with a few gentle tips to help things run smoothly. If possible, try to keep your baby awake for about an hour before I arrive, then feed them right before the session begins. A full, sleepy baby is always the goal.
I recommend a loose swaddle only, no tight outfits, so we can ease into the session and I can wrap comfortably without disturbing them too much. And please don’t stress if things don’t go exactly as planned as I always follow your baby’s lead.
Just enjoy these moments because before you know you blink and they are two!
